Where will things stand in 2020?
• The mobile phone is the internet connection tool for most people in the world.
• Social tolerance has advanced significantly due in great part to the internet.
• Content control through copyright-protection technology dominates.
• Transparency heightens individual integrity and forgiveness.
• Many lives are touched by the use of augmented reality or spent interacting in artificial spaces.
• Talk and touch are common technology interfaces.
• Next-generation research will be used to improve the current internet; it won't replace it.
• Few lines divide professional from personal time, and that's OK.

What will we see in 2020?

The latest "Future of the Internet" survey sponsored by Pew Internet is
available to participate in online for the next several weeks.

It asks people to think about the impact generated through people's use of
the tool we call the Internet. The survey presents interesting scenarios
that are written to get people to react with their opinions about the
future. There?s no commitment involved ? you can take a few minutes to look
at the survey site right now and then follow up by sharing your views if
you'd like to do so. (Your answers will remain anonymous unless you
specifically state you want to take credit for them.)

El próximo escándalo de privacidad de Feisbuk.

Espero que Nitrozac y Snaggy no tomen a mal que cite sin permiso su imagen, pero para mi resume el mensaje cengtral del artículo de Chris Soghoian sobre los riesgos de privacidad para el usuario de Facebook. El deseo de disfrutar de las aplicaciones asociadas a esta red social, hacen que estudiantes de 18, e inclusive investigadores sobre el tema de privacidad que conocen los riesgos asociados, no reparen en permitir que sus datos personales terminen en muchas manos al aceptar la aplicación.

Soghoian afirma que es imposible que la gente de Facebook pueda rastrear el cumplimiento de su "estricta" políticas de privacidad:

Chris Kelly, Facebook's chief privacy officer, claimed that his company "has a variety of techniques to determine if [developers are saving user data.]" As a PhD student in Information Security, I can quite confidently say that from a technical perspective, this is impossible. Simply put, once the data leaves Facebook's servers, the company has no way of knowing what happens to it.

Me preguntó cuál es el nivel de conciencia del riesgo para usuarios que no son de habla inglesa. Acaban de anunciar el lanzamiento de la versión en español de Facebook. Sería interesante indagar cómo se interpreta este riesgo desde la región latinoamericana.
